The montgomery humane ssociety wants all of its pets to find a family this holiday season.

But don't think that because you already have a furry friend that you can't lend a hand.

There are lots of dogs and cats here at the Montgomery Humane Society that need a home this holiday season. And even if you don't have room, there's a way you can help.

The pens at the humane society are almost full, and even though they don't know it, some of these pets have already been paid for.

"People can come in and look at all of our adoptable pets and if they would like, they can sponsor their adoption fee. What this does is this better prepares the adopters to purchase new things for the pets, get set up," said Kimberly Curmpler, animal operations manager for the shelter.

The program is called Angel Pets, and the idea is to let people who may not have room, but still want to save a life, help animal get adopted.

Linda Morrow is a regular volunteer at the shelter. She already has three pets, so she's sponsoring mroe than 10 animals this year.

"It's just impossible to take home every dog or cat and you can build up such a special bond with different ones. This is just a way you can participate and help get them adopted," said Morrow.

Whenever the animal finally gets adopted, you get a call right away so you know it has a home.

That's Morrow's favorite part.

"It just, your heart just bursts. You're just so excited about it. They love to call me because I usually scream. I do, I carry on something awful," said Morrow.

But just because you get your new pet for free doesn't mean you can't help another family find their next pet.

"Last year especially and some this year we've seen a lot of our adopters pay it forward. They had a little bit of trouble selecting between one or two animals so whenever they do adopt and find out their animal has been sponsored, more often than not we see adopters pay if forward and sponsor the other animal that they would have if they could have," said Curmpler.

Even if you don't have time this holiday season, the promotion runs year round.

If you'd like to sponsor a pet or learn more about the program,  you can call the montgomery humane society at (334) 409-0622.
