People Empowering People Summit Held in Perry Co.

From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom--   A new initiative in Perry County is bringing people together to promote positive change in the community and in the quality of life of residents.

The People-Empowering-People or PEP program was created by the Perry County School Board to get parents involved with their children's education.

A PEP summit was was held at the Marion High School.

"We know if we have the support of the community, not just the parents but the entire community, we'll be more successful in all our endeavors with their children," said Perry County School Superintendent John Heard.

School leaders say they hope to make the summit an annual event.
