A Montgomery wood pallet company has been closed down for the second time in a year.
The fire happened around 3:30 this morning at Southeastern Pallets on Washington Ferry Road just off the Birmingham Highway.
No injuries were reported but dozens of firefighters responded.
Public Safety Director Chris Murphy says the company also had a fire last year and was also shut down: "that involved several code violations and we've been working with them to get them back up to code and that kind of thing, unfortunately--it's still under investigation but it doesn't appear to be arson--but it does appear to involve code violations again, so we've shut them down until we can get them back up to code."
No immediate comment from the company about the fire or the forced closing.

I live in the neighborhood by this company. Our only exit is to go by them. Not only are they regularly on fire, but the employees are constantly driving way to fast through our neighborhood during their smoke breaks and obviously they don't run magnets on their trucks or anything because all of their trash washes into the street and we pick up nails in our tires regularly. I'm glad they are shut down, but I am not holding my breath that they will actually follow the rules like the rest of us have to when they reopen. Not to mention how scary it is to see the huge flames from that place when just across the railroad tracks there are huge gas tanks at the gas company.
