Old Alabama Town Hosts Local Jam Session

By Alabama News Network

Old Alabama Town hosted an informal group of musicians today who have met twice a month for the past ten years.

They usually meet around the Old Alabama Town area, and group sizes can range from a few one week to over thirty the next.

They play gospel, bluegrass, country, folk music, and even some alternative rock upon occasion. Today, two acustic guitars and a banjo were played.

"It's been going on for many years," said guitarist Joe Defee. "Every second and fourth Saturday, from nine until noon, we play. It's just local musicians who get together here and play. We have musicians of all ages and all types."

Most members of the group play acoustic instruments and talent levels range from veteran players to elderly people who are just starting to learn.
