New Medical Clinic in Selma Offers Affordable Healthcare

From the West Alabama Newsroom-- People in Selma and Dallas County have another option for affordable healthcare.

The Rural Health Medical Program is opening a new clinic in Selma. The new clinic charges patients based on their ability to pay.

Program officials say the clinic will provide a medical safety net for the working poor Saima Kanwal is one of the doctors at the new clinic.

"I really feel that's a big step in this community to have a clinic to take care of people who have no insurance," she said.

The Rural Health Medical Program also plans to offer health education and wellness programs through it's clinics to help improve health conditions in rural counties.

The program also operates clinics in Perry, Marengo, Wilcox and Monroe counties.
