New Fire Trucks For Troy

Tools

By Sarah Cantey

The Troy Fire Department is busy getting two new trucks ready for service. The city paid for the two trucks, totaling $800,000.

The fire chief said they saw a need with the cities population expanding. The new engines will replace an 80's model and another truck built in 1995.

Firefighters are looking forward to the larger cabs and better air conditioning system. And it has been a long time coming for the department, since both trucks were built from the ground up.

Troy Fire Chief Thomas Outlaw said, "Every man with the department has been on cloud nine since the trucks came in and since the trucks were ordered back approximately 6 months ago."

One of the old trucks was traded in, the other will go to Pike County Fire and Rescue. Chief Outlaw says they can use the new trucks hopefully for the next 20 years.
