Murder-Suicide Investigation Continues in Selma

By George McDonald

From the West Alabama Newsroom-- Selma Police continue to investigate a shooting that left two people dead and another person seriously injured.

Police say 68 year old Bernard Steward went to his nephew's home on the 2300 block of Land Line Road Sunday afternoon -- and opened fire on him and his friend. They say the friend was able to flee after being shot in the abdomen.

Lt Curtis Muhannad says Steward shot his nephew several times -- then turned the gun on himself.

"Right now, we're still looking into speaking to other witnesses, friends or neighbors or anybody that may know of any type of dispute that lead to the shooting," said Muhannad.

He says the surviving shooting victim is in stable condition in a Montgomery hospital.
