Plans are in the making to move Montgomery's planetarium downtown to join a number of other growing attractions.

The planetarium has been in Oak Park since 1968 and its equipment is outdated.

The mayor said city officials may join the Planetarium with the City-County Public Library and the Children's Museum of Alabama in the 22 million Quest-plex building.

That's at the opposite end of the Capitol on Dexter Ave.

The city already set aside funds to update to a 360 degree digital projector bringing high-definition and new programming to audiences.

Mayor Strange says Troy University, which manages the planetarium, has agreed to help with the upgrades.
