Montgomery's 24th Homicide, Police Charge Husband with Shooting Wife

By Heather VacLav

A late night argument between husband and wife turned deadly in Montgomery, as police investigate the city's 24th homicide.

Around 11:30 p.m. Friday police found 33-year old Shamieka A. Brown of Montgomery shot to death inside her home, on the 3900 block of Oak Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene, suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Saturday morning, detectives arrested the victim's husband, 36-year old Anthony Lamar Brown, on charges of murdering his wife. He is currently at the Montgomery County Detention Facility under a $75,000 bond.

Montgomery police say the couple's children were home at the time of the murder, but asleep and did not witness the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Montgomery Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 334-215-STOP (7867).

It does not matter whether it was black on black. The fact is there will be young children without their parents. A life has been taken...a soul has been lost. Crime does not have a label....people label it to suit their case. If it's white on white then they are considered not so white. It's comments like this that still fuel hatred and racism that exist. The fact is that someone else is going to jail for a crime. The fact is we go through this every year. The fact is until people learn how to talk to each other rather than walking away or trying to prove their manhood or whatever...these issues will continue to exist. No one is exempt.

How many of the past 24 homicides have been black. Is this a black on black crime series or mixed? Residents of Montgomery need to know.
