Montgomery Fire Department Buys New Equipment

By Lisa Blackwell

The Montgomery Fire Department showed off some new equipment on Friday.

The department purchased a ladder truck and a rehab truck.

The new 2012 ladder truck has a 110 foot ladder and more powerful hoses.

It replaces a 1995 vehicle and will take firefighters and equipment to rescues and hazardous materials incidents.

The custom designed rehab truck will support firefighters who are responding to prolonged events.

Lt. Donald Crenshaw with the Montgomery Fire Department, says, "These vehicles have over 100,000 miles on them and they have wear and tear and with these new vehicles we can respond faster to the scenes and we have better equipment to help the citizens of Montgomery."

The new rehab truck will be based at station 6 on Forest Avenue and the new ladder truck will be based at station 4 on Airbase Boulevard.
