Montgomery Celebrates Chinese New Year

Hundreds of people are ringing in Chinese New Year here in Montgomery.

Auburn University in Montgomery hosted about 300 guests, including a Chinese Consul General from Houston, Texas.

2014 is the year of the horse, Which in the Chinese Zodiac means promoting health and peace. Saturday's Montgomery celebration started with traditional fireworks by children, along with a dragon dance and traditional music.
It's a way for people in Montgomery to stay in touch with their cultural roots, and the group says they are happy to share their holiday with local Alabamians, so they say they plan to throw a celebration like this every year.
