Merrell Sworn In As Covington County DA

Covington County has a new lead crime fighter.

District Attorney Walt Merrell was sworn in Tuesday.

He has some agressive prosecution goals.

He plans to clear each of the five murder cases pending on the docket.

He'd also like to get the overall case load down to one hundred.

To jump start that effort Merrell has talked to prosecuters from neighboring agencies and a judge to see if they will help with what he's calling a rocket docket.
