Mayor and City Council Take Oath of Office in Selma

From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom--   The mayor and city council are sworn into office Monday night in Selma.

Mayor George Evans-- and the nine members of the Selma City Council took the oath of office at a swearing-in ceremony at the George P. Evans Reception Center.

Evans says he will continue to work with the city council to try to move the city forward during his second term.

"Just a continuation of what we started in the first term trying to keep building new bridges and building relationships and trust and working to make our city a better place to live," he said.

The ceremony was followed by the new council's first organizational meeting-- and a reception.
