Mardi Gras Parade Rolls Through Prattville

By Heather VacLav

Mardis Gras celebrations kicked off in Prattville for the city's 9th annual parade.

The parade started at the Autauga County Courthouse and traveled through downtown Prattville. This year, the Krewe of Athena highlighted the show.

More than 30 floats, from local businesses, elected officials and sports teams, tossed beads and candy to the crowd.

Parade-goers say, it's becoming a tradition for the area. Kids lined the streets reaching out to grab coins, candy and moon pies.

City officials say they'll continue to host the Mardi Gras parade in Prattvillle for as long as the community wants to attend.
