Marengo Theater in Demopolis Shuts Down

From the West Alabama Newsroom-- The cost of a night out at the movies just got a lot more expensive for people who live in Demopolis.

Marengo Theater -- the city's only movie theater shut down suddenly last week. Now residents there who want to go to the movies will have to add the cost of gas -- to the price of a movie ticket.
 

Theater operators say small theaters are closing nationwide because they can't afford to upgrade to the industry's new digital format.
