Macon County Moves Forward Despite VictoryLand

VictoryLand's fate is still uncertain. And Macon County leaders can't bank on it to fuel their economy.

They are putting together plans for the future. Including trying to fill a 200 acre commercial park.
There is also a lot right off the railroad that is ready for a large industry to move in. The county has already seen some growth. A new shopping plaza opened up in Tuskegee and residents like the change.

Takisia Carter said,  "You know now that we have the dollar tree, we have the dollar general, and family dollar's here, it's been good. We don't have to go to Auburn for anything we can just get it right here."

County leaders are also hoping to attract businesses right off of the interstate.
