By Alabama News Network

The Macon County Sherriff's Office is receiving some new life-saving equipment.

Deputies received 21 new ballistic vests, all at no cost, thanks to donations from the National Sheriff's Association and the Moose organization.

Sheriff David Warren says the department has not received new vests in about 5 years due to limited funding.  He says they are top quality vests and he is thankful the department is getting them.

He says the deputies will begin using the new vests immediately.
