Montgomery Police Make Arrest in Capital City's 7th Homicide of the Year

By Heather VacLav

Montgomery police have made an arrest in Montgomery's 7th homicide of 2013.
Police have charged Michael Alexander Jr. 18, of Montgomery with one count of murder. Police say Alexander turned himself in to authorities Sunday evening.
According to Montgomery Police, shortly after midnight Sunday morning, officers responded to shots fired at the 3800 block of MacLamar Road.
Police believe an argument between the suspect and the victim, 32-year old Erksine Chambliss, caused Alexander to shoot Chambliss.
When officers arrived at the scene, Chambliss was suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Baptist Medical Center South, but died in the hospital.
Alexander is being held on a $75,000 bond at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
No other information is available at this time.
