Local Reaction to Zimmerman Trial

By Ellis Eskew

The "not guilty" verdict of the Zimmerman trial has people across the country speaking out, as well as  in Montgomery.

George Zimmerman was acquitted of second degree murder and manslaughter in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
Many of the people we talked to say they do not think the 6 members of the jury made the right decision.

William Levi Gialliard says, "I was disappointed in the fact that intelligent people could not make the right decision irrespective of what the system says they ought to do."

However, we asked some of our Facebook fans, what they thought.

Crystal Mathieu Purvis says, "Just because a verdict is not the one you want to hear doesn't mean it's wrong. That jury sat through the whole trial and heard both sides and in the end they said NOT GUILTY!"

The Justice Department is reviewing evidence in the case to determine whether criminal civil rights charges are warranted.

IT seem those with the strongest opinions, pro or con the jury's decision, have the least grasp of the facts and evidence of the trial. As one who has followed this trial from beginning to end, I see no travesty of justice in the verdict.
