Little Girl Meets Role Model, Paula Creamer

By Morgan Hightower

Over the past years, both of Malia Stovall’s idols have seemed far away.. But today, they were together.

"When I was in Baghdad for a year, I really wanted to do something special for missing a year of my daughter's life,” said Major Jimmy Stovall, Malia’s father.

Malia’s father arranged for her to meet her role model, pro golfer Paula Creamer.

"I really like pink, and she does too.. And she’s really good a golf, and she's just a really great person,” said Malia Stovall.

Malia and her parents followed Paula all morning by foot, and then at the 16th hole, the US Open champion asked her biggest fan to come along for a ride.

"She told me to practice with more clubs around the green, so I’ll definitely do that.”

"Maybe something I said or what not helps her get better, or helps her achieve her dreams in what she wants, then I will be a happy person,” said Creamer.

For Malia’s father, seeing his plan come together, which began as an email from the battlefield, was more than he could have ever hoped for.

"Just seeing her on the eighteenth green with her, I was like, now is not a good time to break down, it really was an emotional time, finally getting to see her,” said Stovall.
