Judge Rules Center Stage Gambling Machines Illegal

A judge in Dothan has ruled that gambling machines that were seized from Center Stage are illegal.

The operators of Center Stage had argued they were legal electronic bingo machines. But Circuit Judge Michael Conaway issued a ruling Thursday siding with Attorney General Luther Strange's argument that they were illegal.

The ruling allows the state to destroy the 691 machines and to keep the nearly $289,000 in cash that was seized in a raid last year.

Center Stage replaced Country Crossing casino after it was shut down by the state's gambling task force.
