Montgomery's newest downtown restaurant, the Irish Bred Pub is celebrating its grand opening Monday, but Saturday night the pub offered a sneak preview.

The brick three story renovated building is located on the corner of Dexter Avenue and South Perry Street. The pub will be equipped with big screen TVs and will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

The online menu shows the pub will be serve traditional Irish food like Shepard's Pie and fish and chips, plus meat and three options for lunch.

"It has been a long anticipated event," said general manager Gary Morin. "They have been working on this building for two years and we're excited to let the city of Montgomery see what we've been working on so hard.

The city of Montgomery says the Irish Bred Pub is a good sign for development on Dexter Avenue, but previously some historians criticized the structure for interrupting the history in the area.
