Hundreds of Alabamians Cross Georgia Line to Play Powerball
Tonight you could win $320 million, that's if you played the Powerball Lottery. Many Alabamians want a chance at the jackpot, and they're traveling great lengths to get it.
It's the fourth largest jackpot in Powerball history, and the second largest since 2006: $320 million, $213 million if you picked the cash option. But just because Alabama doesn't offer the Powerball, doesn't mean folks are missing out on their chance to be millionaires.
Each ticket printed at the Shell Station just over the Georgia line is a taste their dream come true.
Since Georgia started its lottery, its returned more than $13.6 billion to state education, and a lot of that money has gone to college scholarships.
As of now there's no bill proposing a lottery.
