House Seat 74 Candidates Vow to Complete Term if Elected

By Ellis Eskew

The race for the district 74 seat in the house is heating up.

A special election is being held because the current legislator, Jay Love, is stepping down.

Charlotte meadows, Dimitri Polizos and Heather Sellers faced off Tuesday night at a forum at Lakeview Baptist Church.

The candidates all say they want to reduce spending, grow the economy and fight crime.
Voters tell us they are concerned about them staying in office for a whole term if they should be elected.

However voters are concerned over a recent trend in the legislature of officials leaving office before their terms are up.

"People today are looking for a stepping stone to something better. I believe if you take a job, you should finish it," said voter Mary Long.

Each candidate said they vow to stick it out.

Sellers tells us, " I believe in a commitment and would serve that term absolutely. "

"Just not one that quits. I stick it out whatever it takes, but I just stay with it," said Polizos.

Charlotte Meadows says, " I've never backed down from anything I've started and always finish what I have started."

The special election for jay love's seat with be held October 8th.

WAKA AND WSFA should join together for the people of this district and hold a joint debate moderated by Mark Montiel. The constituents of this district deserve to hear a through debate to reveal the characters of the candidates running in this election. It is a disservice to allow them to hide in the dark and sell their false image to the uninformed public. This is the worst coverage of a race I have seen thus far in my adult life. They have an open invitation to two networks and have refused to go on. If you have nothing to hide why would you not want the free opportunity to stand for the views in which you express in commercials, signs, and print ads? It really is because you can not stand firm in the truth just like Barbara Thompson. You can not speak unless it is a prepared statement.

I have a question that puzzles me. Why can Heather Sellers and Dimitri Polizos go onto the talk radio stations that is plural and also why don't we as constituents hear these three candidates in a true debate? WAKA AND WSFA hosting a debate moderated by Mark Montiel would equal news that exposes all the candidates for who they really are. Frankly put they know the truth and are scared to admit the truth. You do not have to hide like Barbara Thompson if you are telling the TRUTH! Report on why they can not do an interview. Just remember that who wins will be representing you and if you feel like voting for someone who is already in hiding so be it. A knock on your door to ask if a sign can be placed in your yard does not constitute election to public office. Its like you buying gold from someone taking their word its real them placing the sign walking away NEVER to return again and you take the gold to cash it in and find out its fools gold. I mean its absurd.
