If you are going out trick-or-treating, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office reminds you to plan a route and know where you are going.
Patrol units will be out and about patrolling neighborhoods.
And if you are driving through neighborhoods Thursday evening, it's a good idea to slow down and keep an eye out for trick-or-treaters.
But Chief Deputy Derrick Cunningham recommends another option as well.
"I would go to fall festivals because normally at fall festivals you are still going to get the community coming together, you are still going to have people from that neighborhood coming together giving out some candy they'd get going door to door.
Then you know it's safe, well lit,and organized," said Cunningham.
We asked our facebook fans... Trick-or-treating door to door.... or trunk-or-treating at a fall festival? Which do you prefer?
Beth Beverly says..."I would rather do Trunk-or-Treating because its all in the same spot because you never know whose door you are walking too!!!"
Kaitlyn Mitchell says... "Trunk or treating because you have to be picky on whose door to walk to.. too many crazy people out in this world."
Gerry Thompson says..."I miss the good ole days where we went door to door, and some of the houses offer more by having something to scare you as well as get treats."
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is holding its Halloween "Spooktacular" Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Garrett Coliseum. It is free and open to the public.
