Montgomery's Habitat for Humanity ReStore Burglarized

By Ellis Eskew

A disturbing discovery Friday morning for workers at the Habit for Humanity store in Montgomery.
They arrived to work to find the store had been broken into.

A smashed window and a damaged door frame.. You can see how thieves made their way into Montgomery Habitat for Humanity ReSore Thursday night. And they seemed to have one thing on their mind.

Executive Director Nick Mielke says the thieves, "got into the cash register and stole some cash. Kind of banged up the cash machine a little bit and left it on the floor."

Mielke says there was an undisclosed amount on cash stolen. Now they are letting the police handle the investigation.
As for the community, if you want to help, Mielke says the best thing to do is come shop at the ReStore.

"We have a lot of things you can do. You can buy furniture, buy stuff for your own do-it-yourself home projects. We've got lumber, we've got paint. You can also donate items. We take gently used home goods and everything that comes from the store that people buy from the store hleps to supoport the mission for habitat for humanity, which is providing affordable quality housing for people in need," said Mielke.

The police department is handling the situation. They were not able to give us any details on this case as of this evening

Habitat for Humanity has been in Montgomery since 1987.
It has built more than 70 homes for families in need.
