Greenville's Christmas Parade Kicks Off Holidays
Holiday spirit was in full force as nearly 50 groups paraded down Greenville streets, and jolly St. Nick came all the way from the North Pole to visit the Camiella City.
High school teams, puppets, and even a Charlie Brown Christmas float paraded down Commerce street spreading Christmas cheer across the city. Parade goers say this tradition kicks off their holiday season every year, and parents want to share that joy with their children.
"I came when I was little, and I just want to carry it on with them," says Stephanie Blue, a Greenville Resident.
Hundreds of people cheered as all of the floats rolled down the street, showing off their creativity with decorated motorcycles and special performances.
For the kids, this parade means a visit with Santa, and they say seeing Mr. Claus is their favorite part of the parade every year.
"His beard feels soft," says Saniya Stone, a little girl from Greenville.
Some say this parade means a lot to them, because it's a way to show kindness in the community.
Denasia Bell, a parade goer, says, "It means a lot to me because, violence is going around everywhere, and I don't want everyone to be mean towards each other."
Several kids say they have been very good this year, and they think Santa will be back in a few weeks with everything on their list.
