Governor Bentley Tours Golden Dragon Copper Plant in Wilcox Co.

By George McDonald

From the West Alabama Newsroom--  Governor Robert Bentley visits the site of the new 100-million dollar Golden Dragon Copper plant under construction in Wilcox County.

Bentley got an update on the progress at the plant -- and took a tour of the massive facility.

Company officials say construction of the plant is on schedule -- and the facility should be up and running by the first of the year.

The plant will make hundreds of jobs available in the county with the state's highest unemployment rate.

"Three hundred jobs and possibly 500 jobs will change this county and that's what we need," said Bentley. "We need more great companies like this coming to rural areas of Alabama and that will significantly change this state."

The company makes copper tubing used in refrigeration and air conditioning units.
