By Alabama News Network

The leader of the College Republicans is making waves in the state GOP because of her support of gay marriage.

Stephanie Petelos' comments were a main topic of conversation at the state Republican Exchange Committee today.

The committee rejected a proposal that would have ordered no member of the party's steering committee including Petelos to publicly oppose any resolution it passed.

After the vote, Chief Justice Roy Moore told the group he will leave the Republican Party if it ever embraces same-sex marriage.
