Gov. Robert Bentley Is Pleased with the 2013 Legislative Session
Gov. Robert Bentley was Live on Alabama News Network at 6:00 to share his thoughts about the 2013 Legislative session.
He outlined to news anchor Glenn Halbrooks the accomplishments that he says the Legislature made.
One setback was his desire to delay the private school tax credits for two years. The Legislature turned down that idea. So parents whose children go to failing public schools will be able to get a tax credit to shift them to other schools, even private ones.
The governor says a two-year delay would've given failing schools time to fix their problems and would've allowed the state to pay back money borrowed. It's estimated that the tax credits will cost the state $40 million.
