GE Aviation Celebrates Selection of Auburn for New Facility

By Morgan Hightower

GE Aviation moves its plans forward to open a new facility in Auburn in 2012 that will employ up to 400 people.

Environmental coatings for advanced military jet engines components will be built there.

Alabama continues to be a prime location for jobs in aviation and according to Governor Riley, this is only the beginning.

“What I think you're going to see down the road is at least three to four hundred jobs multiply, just because of how technically it really is. This is going to be significant by what's going to happen over the next five-ten years,” said Riley.

Construction for the new factory will begin next year at Auburn Technology Park West and is expected to open in 2012.
