Free Tax Preparation
It’s that time of year when W-2’s start showing up in the mail.
When you get that W-2 in hand, you just might start thinking about a refund.
There’s a tax preparation service kicking of tomorrow that will do your taxes for free and help you hang to that refund.
When it comes to tax season…most everyone has to do the math. If you’re not so comfortable with crunching the numbers, there’s a group of college students who are and they will do your taxes for free.
Malcolm Albin, SaveFirst Marketing Coordinator, says, “Most commercial tax preparers they’ll charge you two hundred, three hundred dollars just in preparation fees sometimes they charge fees for other things like efiling those things they can start to add up and potentially take away a pretty big chunk of a person’s tax refund.”
Impact Alabama has been processing returns for six years now. They provide free preparation to working families with children at home making less than fifty thousand per year or families making less than twenty thousand dollars without kids at home.
Tax preparers say when you come make sure you bring all of your identification such as a photo id, social security card, w-2’s and any other forms that show other income plus a voided check, that way you can get that income tax refund direct deposited to your bank account.
“If they do that once we send it into the IRS it takes one to two weeks for their federal tax refund to be deposited into their bank account,” said Albin.
In addition to getting the refund quickly, families can enter the SaveNow WinLater sweepstakes for a chance to win a 5000 dollar cash grand prize by investing in savings bonds. For every fifty dollars invested in a federal savings bond, families get a chance to win a 5000 dollar grand prize jackpot at the end of tax season.
