Former Gov. Siegelman's Daughter Continues Plea for His Release

By CBS 8 News

The daughter of former governor Don Siegelman continues to petition President Obama for his release from prison.

Dana Siegelman says she wants a review of the country's justice system to be a top priority for the president.

She says her father is strong and positive, and has been working on a book during his time in prison.

He has also recently gained the support of a Florida congressman for clemency.

Siegleman has been in a Louisiana prison since September.  He's serving a six and a half year sentence for bribery and conspiracy.

Dana Siegelman is making the right argument: for the President to correct the nation's justice system. It is not about freeing a criminal. Rather, we need to correct the vulnerability of our justice system to manipulation by organized criminal elements to falsely imprison honest public officials.
