Flowers Not Running for Public Service Commission

By Alabama News Network

A former state legislator has changed his mind about running for a seat on the public service commission.

Steve Flowers says he realized after announcing his candidacy less than a month ago that running would hurt his credibility as a political commentator and columnist.
Flowers has been a political analysis for Alabama News Network for several years and he will renew that duty now that he is no longer running.
He says he prefers the role of an observer rather than that of a politician.
Flowers Released a statement saying in part, "I have decided that my role as a critic, columnist and political historian is one  where I can have a greater influence and better serve my state. Therefore, I will not be a candidate for public office at this time."
