Fireworks Rescheduled, But Rain Still in the Forecast

By Brittany Bivins

Bad weather may have cancelled fireworks shows across our area, but some cities aren't giving up on them.

The City of Troy rescheduled its celebration to Saturday night at 8:30. Andalusia, Opp, Tuskegee and Luverne have also set their shows for that night. But there's still a chance of rain through this weekend, which could force some cities to move their fireworks shows again. That's a possibility people in Troy say they've been considering and they have a Plan C...move the show again to Labor Day.

"I was told by the company this morning that shoots the fireworks and provides the fireworks that Labor Day is now the 4th of July. A number of cities have moved their shows from July 4th weekend to Labor Day weekend already," said Troy Parks and Recreation Director Dan Smith.

Right now, Troy's show is still slated for 8:30 Saturday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
