Forestry officials tell CBS 8 News that the fire was called in around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday near County Road 170 in Chilton County.
Chilton County firefighters got to the scene and immediately called in help because the fire was bigger than expected. More than 50 acres burned today.
What started the fire is still under investigation. Forestry officials say no structures are in harms way.
Officials say dry weather, low humidity and gusty winds are increasing the threat of wildfires across the state.
The Alabama Forestry Department is still on the scene tonight at the Autauga County, Chilton County border - making sure a wildfire doesn't start back up.
