Fire Destroys a Downtown Montgomery Business

An early morning fire destroys a historic downtown Montgomery business.

Firefighters say the arrived on the scene of the blaze at the Standard Roofing Company around 6:30 A.M.  Several crews fought to get the fire under control.  There were no employees inside the building at the time of the fire.  Three firefighters did receive minor injuries.

The company's owners say the building is a total loss.  It served as the corporate headquarters for Standard Roofing Company which has other locations in Pensecola, Florida and Birmingham.

The company has been at the location since 1945.
