Fifth Annual Montgomery Half Marathon

This weekend 2,300 runner laced up for a good cause. 

Runners hit the fifth annual Montgomery half marathon from the Alabama News Network start line. 
There was a 13-point-one mile race, a 5-K and a one-mile Publix Mayor's Challenge. 
More than 800 public school kids participated in that. The schools had the kids run 12 miles over a stretch of time leading up to the teach them important lessons about a healthy life style. 
Mariah Hergenroeder, a parent said, "Gives them a good direction for their competition. Cause crossing the line is always a good thing but whether you do it first or last, as long as you finish what you start."
$10,000 is going to Child Protect $2,500 going to the American Red Cross and $1,000 to the Department of Public Safety's 'magic moments'.
