Fatal Fire Takes Life of a Clanton Woman

A 61 year old Clanton woman died in a house fire early this morning.

The fire happened at the corner of 3rd Avenue South and 12th Street at 12:15 A.M. Saturday.

Neighbors say the woman used an oxygen tank which exploded during the fire.

One of the neighbors rushed into the burning house and pulled the woman to safety, but the woman suffered severe burns.

She was airlifted to UAB Hospital where she later died.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
