Family of 27th Murder Victim Upset Suspect Is Out On Bond

From Montgomery -- A family is grieving after their loved one was fatally shot this weekend making him the city's 27th homicide victim. In an exclusive interview with Alabama News Network, the family describes the pain they are facing.

Alvan Harris was 38 years old. He owned his own business and was always there for his nieces and nephews. His sister and mother say they are devastated especially now that one of his murder suspects is out on bond.
"I know my life will never be the same," says Demetria Moore.
The images replay in Moore's mind. Her younger brother was shot and killed Saturday at a gas station on West Fairview Avenue.
"It was an altercation, and they had already jumped him," Moore says.
Moore and her mother identified Harris. They say he was shot in his stomach. The pain too much for a mother to relive.
"I know it's hard for my mom to have to bear a child, and I'm his sister," she says. "He's more than my brother. He was like a child to me."
Police have arrested 23-year-old Lesherman Ringstaff and 19-year-old Laterrious Davis. Ringstaff has made bond. He is no longer behind bars.
"I think they need to start holding them when they get locked up," Moore says.
Moore is upset both were held under a $75,000 bond. She says Ringstaff has already posted comments on his Facebook page since he has been out of jail.
"They get out too soon. They think it's a joke," she says.
Moore is spending this Fourth of July making funeral arrangements for her brother. A man full of love and laughter. Something this family will forever miss.
"You're family will never be the same, because all her children will never be together again," Moore says.
Moore says the violence needs to stop. Her answer: the city needs to take illegal guns off the streets.
Both suspects are being charged with one count of murder.
