Fallen police officers were remembered Wednesday with a wreath laying ceremony at King Hill Community Center.

Dozens of police officers and community members gathered to pay their respects to those who laid down their life in line of duty.

After prayer and a few moments of remembrance, one by one, the wreaths were placed by the memorial markers in the park.

Each marker has the officer's name, the year of their death and the department they worked for.

“This is to let all the families of the fallen officers know that we care and that we are remembering in this yuletide season and always. We chose to place wreaths along with members of the community and police officers in memory of our fallen officers,” said Cubie Hayes, event coordinator.

In all, 24 fallen officers were remembered.
