"Both exhibits focus on stained glass-----the main one features century old windows showing angels, windows that were saved from a church in Cincinatti when it was torn down:
There're actually from a Swedenborgian church, in Cincinnati that was constructed in the late 1800's, early 1900's . These windows were created specifically for them. The church was demolished in the late 60's and these windows were put away and forgotten about and subsequently found and restored, they're based on the book of revelations. the Swedenborgian religion actually focused on being in the presence of angles. Some of their teachings taught people to understand that they are in the presence of angles, weather they realize it or not. So it's very fitting that the seven angles from the Book of Revelations were featured in the church. the faces on the glass were actually hand painted, and the rest of he glass is actually utilizing a layering technique that tiffany is known for."
The other part of the exhibit displays drawings by the work of an alabama stained glass artist,Clara Weaver Parrish grew up on a plantation near selma, and ended up designing stained glass church windows for tiffany in new york city.
