Exxon Armed Robbery Investigation Begins In Opp
Opp police are investigating an armed robbery at a gas station that left a station attendant hurt.
It's been a long couple of hours for Opp city police, as they've been spending the day searching for the two men who did this.
It happened at the Exxon service center on Cummings Avenue around 1:30 this morning. Opp Police Chief, Nickey Carnley, says the two suspects pumped their gas and returned about 10 minutes later...
"The white male returned on foot... as he was walking up, the attendant spoke to him. The attendant was seated outside at the time. He did not respond. However at that time, he struck the attendant and knocked him unconscious."
The suspects stole a cash register with an undisclosed amount of money. Police aren't releasing the name of the gas station attendant who was treated and released from Mizell Memorial Hospital.
Gas clerk, Patrick Moore, says he worries when he works the night shift because its happened before.
"When they told me about it this morning it just gave me chill bumps. You know, I think about that stuff all the time. It just gave me chill bumps when they told me."
Investigators describe the vehicle as a brown van with a tan stripe down the side. It's an older model chevrolet van. Police are looking for two men -- one is white, in his thirties with a medium build. They say he was wearing white pants, but no shirt. Officers are also looking for a slender black man in his early twenties, wearing denim shorts.
