An ex-GOP congressman says Alabama's former democratic governor, Don Siegelman was wrongly convicted.

Former U-S Representative Parker Griffith of Huntsville says he hopes to influence President Obama's director of pardons to free Siegelman.

Griffith says Siegelman was "unjustly convicted and sentenced."

He says many Republicans and Democrats feel Siegelman's conviction was politically motivated.

Siegelman is in federal prison after being convicted on corruption charges.
