Event To Help Create Clean Water In India

By Sarah Cantey

One billion people don't have access to clean water and about 4,000 kids die every day.

Those statistics were motivation for a fundraiser called WOD for Water in Troy. The second annual event will be held on November 2nd at Troy University.

Participants will work out with Jerry cans, thats a container that holds water. A 5-year-old kid in India gets one on their birthday to get water 3 to 5 miles away from home. Money will go to Never Thirst out of Birmingham. They build deep water wells in third world countries.

Jason Jones, Co-Director of WOD For Water Troy said, "Our goal last year was $10,000 and we raised 16. So we were able to build 6 wells and provide clean water for over 2,500 people."

This year they set a $20,000 goal. They've already surpassed that for more information on donating and the event, visit: http://www.wodforwatertroy.com/
