Elmore County K9 Team Needs Your Help to Support Programs

By Alabama News Network

The Search and Rescue of Elmore County K9 team is there for anyone who needs them. Now team members say they need your help.

The team held a donation drive today at the Tallassee Wal-Mart from 8:00 until noon. The whole gang was there, including the newest addition to the team, a bloodhound named John Boy.

His handler says these are no ordinary dogs.

"John-Boy is to help out on missing people. He's to save the community a lot of time. When it may take an hour to find them with a group of people, he may cut down that time to 15, 20 minutes," said Chris Moore, John-Boy's handler.

The team will use the money it raises for important supplies and programs, including kennel improvements, veterinary services, team training and equipment.
