By Alabama News Network

The University held its tenth annual Down Syndrome Buddy Walk at John Mark Stallings field.

Over a thousand people came out for the event and they each got their own t-shirt and bagged lunch.

At the end of the walk, every child with down syndrome received an award.

The walk is held each October for National Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

All the money raised will go to benefit education and research programs for people with down syndrome.
