CBS 8 is teaming up with the American Red Cross for a series of Donor Round Up blood drives in an effort to respond to the urgent need for blood in central Alabama. Red Cross officials say the available blood supply has reached emergency levels with only half the amount needed for this time of year on hand. The first of four Donor Round Up blood drives will be held in Selma Friday from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm on the Red Cross Bloodmobile on Broad Street. "A blood drive is always important, especially during the summer months it's a hard time for us to collect blood, said Ivy Pittman with the American Red Cross. Donor Round Up blood drives will also be held in Montgomery on Tuesday, Wednesday in Troy and Thursday in Wetumpka.
