From the West Alabama Newsroom--  The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of an early morning fatal house fire in Demopolis.

Demopolis Fire Chief Tommy Tate says Robin Clifton died in the fire that happened Monday in the 600 block of West Pettus Street.  His uncle, Ed Finley was home when the fire broke out, but he was able to get out.  Finley suffered minor injuries trying to rescue Clifton.

Clifton was a member of First Baptist Church.

"As tragic a way for him to leave this Earth as yesterday was we know that he is in a much better place today and while we're sad we certainly rejoice that he's in a much better place," said Rev. Carl Williams.

A dog in the house also suffered minor injuries in the fire.
