Dallas Co. Residents Honor Sacrifice By Enjoying Freedom

By George McDonald

From the West Alabama Newsroom--   People in Dallas County remember and recognize the sacrifice of the men and women who gave their lives for freedom.

Many people spent the day honoring the sacrifice of those who gave all by enjoying the freedom they gave their lives for.

Barbeques and family outings pay tribute to the soldiers who paid the ultimate price to protect the American way of life.

"Without them we wouldn't be able to do the things that we're doing today, they went and fought all these wars so we can continue to keep our freedom," said Linda Irwin.

"I think that all of them are heroes no matter what they did, they are heroes and I'm truly grateful," said Jacquelyn Hunter Marshall.

The day's events included the annual Memorial Day Ceremony and a county-wide minute of silence.
